Our Program

Our school day is split into three main areas: child-initiated play, teacher-directed activities, and whole group learning. We strive to provide opportunities for learning and growth in all developmental domains:

  • Social and Emotional Development

  • Cognitive Growth

  • Physical Development

  • Language and Communication

Our teachers plan thoughtful and interesting activities for our students, all developed through the lens of play based learning.

About
Our Hummingbird class is designed for students first entering preschool and runs in the morning. This is an inspiring and important time of life and our ultimate goal is to instill a love of learning so that the children are excited to come to school every day. This program focuses heavily on social and emotional learning and development and our teachers work to develop caring and trusting relationships with each child and to help instill a healthy sense of self in the children.

Our play based curriculum allows our teachers to guide and mentor students “in the moment” as they learn to interact with others and develop an understanding of the feelings of those around them. We focus on naming and understanding emotions of the child and what to do with them. Most of these students have not been in a classroom environment before so our goal is to get them used to being in a classroom and to develop their independence and self-regulation.

About
Our Owl class is designed for students preparing for kindergarten and runs in the afternoon. This program is the stepping stone to their next adventure in elementary school. Teachers continue to build and nurture relationships with each child and begin to reinforce more academic concepts, always meeting the child where they are at. Because we keep our teacher to student ratios low we are able to differentiate and plan activities for the children that allows for individual growth and interests. Our play based curriculum grants our children many hands-on opportunities to learn letters, numbers, shapes, and colors as they play and explore in the classroom and in nature.
